In 2007, Tim had the fantastic opportunity to race in Formula BMW USA.  He was one of the 5 Formula BMW scholarship winners to be part of the series.  We started our own team in order to make it more economical, but then joined the Atlantic Racing Team out of Halifax, Nova Scotia after the first race (to avoid Dad having a heart attack trying to to this on top of his career).

Although Tim was not among the Front runners, as this was his first year in cars, and he was competing against drivers who had multiple years driving cars.  Tim knew we could not afford a major shunt, as his season would be over at that point.  Tim had the lowest amount of damage in the series, and we finally had to replace the engine at 63 hours when it blew up in San Jose (had 40 hours on it when we bought the car).  Other teams routinely replaced their engines around 25 hours.  However, Tim did learn a lot about driving through the Special Education and Coaching Program which was part of his scholarship, and he continued to improve throughout the year.
